I had a lovely reply from Dave via Mike and have permission to post their thoughts ...

I've asked Dave about this and he essentially thinks you should go with whatever you see. However I've laid out some of this thoughts for you below, but obviously it's been a while....

There's a picture of the half-formed ship shrouded in mist on the sleeve's first page at the bottom, where you see from the back the mast and part of a wing. Remember the ship is organic and the windows (the details on the front of the ship above the dragon-type figurehead) are lit by spirits and so should be luminous and glowing. Dave described the ship as sort of based on a Spanish galleon with a high prow crossed with a Japanese fighting fish baring down on the viewer.

Look at the size of that mast and fins !!! Super.

So, we need an organic, Spanish galleon ...

With a high prow ...

I need your help, please, gentle readers.

If you look on the front of the MM, what do you see (clicky for biggy)?

There is a banner (sail?) at the top, and what I see, is a dragon head motif at the bottom, but what is all that in the middle?

Is it basically in one plane, or does it undulate, backwards and forwards, from the body of the ship?

Is it a 'small', sharp, prow/figurehead/rider, or as high as the body of the ship?
Any thoughts (or sketches !!!) much appreciated :)

The Moorglade Mover

My build is going to be a hybrid interpretation of The Moorglade Mover, inspired by Roger Dean's and David Fairbrother-Roe's imagery. I will email Mr F-R (or, more correctly, his nephew), to see if he can help me with any concept drawings of the details, side views etc; we will see how that goes, although I already have my own mental imagery :)

So, where can I find a biggish fish/dragon (preferably polystyrene) for the core of the build?

Off to a bits box ...

Dismantle, bits in bits box, stick it back together, job done.

I am in my early 50s. I enjoy the wisdom, knowledge and skills of age, along with the hope, health and vigour of youth ;)

During my recent move, I had to consider lots of stuff. Many vinyl LPs have teetered on the edge of keeping, Ebaying, charity shop or disposal - this has not been easy (and is still ongoing).

Although I often listen to my digital version of Olias of Sunhillow, digging out the treat of the expanding LP sleeve (artist, David Fairbrother-Roe) ...

... took me back to times, when I would belt out the opening tracks, as I prepared to go out to some wondrous and exciting story of youthful conquest ... to parties, to special places and people - those were very good days of what could have been and were.

Thank you Jon and David, maybe a small version of The Moorglade Mover will fly soon :)
