The Colonel Gets Static At Last (Part 2) - Making Some Clumps
So, after making the DIY Static Grass Applicator, it was time to make some clumps.
The longer static grasses (ca >3 mm length) are quite easy to make, it is the 1-3 mm that are a little trickier (clicky for biggy)...

The Colonel Gets Static At Last (Part 1) - The Applicator
DIY Static Grass Applicator (clicky for biggy) ... oh, I so love 'pound shops' :) ...
Open the case (screws) and split the 'head' off the Bug Blitz, to reveal the +VE wire (white in this case) and the two -VE wires (black in this case) ...
The 'business end' ... watch that capacitor circuit !!! ...
Snip the wires, away, from the metal, insect-killing, frames (great for fences, sieving stuff etc) ...
(1) Re-size the black -VE wires and solder them to the metal 'handle' (file the 'chrome' from it first),
(2) I used a fresh piece of red wire and soldered it, directly, to the PCB, in place of the +VE white wire,
(3) Drill a couple of holes, in the 'handle', to match the casing, screw-hole fittings,
(4) Hot glue gun delight, to lock everything in place,
(5) Solder a crocodile clip to the end of the +VE wire ...
There we have it ...
First, quick, attempt (see video, below, for technique), with no underlying metallic sheet needed. Did a double application, on the clumps, on the left, because I flattened them a bit, in handling (this is old, GW, static grass, 40 mm base, for scale) ...
Result !!!
